I had thought i will share how i worked on my role. but  when i started it seems to be a personal secret that i am finding difficult to put it to paper.

but i need to give you something...

When i started i couldnot help being me... but as the days progressed i got to know more about the characer Nawab's life... the best way an actor can portray a character is knowing almost the same amount of information he has about himself.....

the more information you have the better the portrayal...

the walk the voice, the attitude all comes with the information.

Detailed Information is the key. Know everything that needs to be known... EVERYTHING....

After this it is a cake walk...

Not one post regarding that. May be there were few entries regarding should i pursue it... how should I go about it and maybe giving my self  the hint of confidence that I can do it.

Recently, I got a role in a theater play. Though I was among the people who had started the theater group but i got an opportunity to be part of a film shoot as Asst. Dir. So i took it up. So, I asked my friends to go ahead with the play. So i was busy with the shoot and when i went back to the play.

The director had quit. So, one of the partners who was most experienced took over and since he was also doing a role. He asked me to take over his role but i tried to convince him to do it as the performance was in his home town and also i was also a bit irritated the way one of the other partners had behaved on my absence because of the shoot.

The play we are doing is a  adaptation of French play "Boeing Boeing". Where the caretaker of the house is a lady but here in the hindi version caretaker is a man.

One line synopsis of the play. is A guy Sameer is dating three Air hostesses at the same time and the caretaker and cook of the house Nawab helps him keep the arrangement in place. The whole arrangement loses its  balance when his old childhood friend Jagdish pays a visit. comes. and a storm delays and cancels the flights and results in his fiances coming home at the same time.

The first day i played Nawab and today after almost a week things are different very different.

when i started the reading i emoted well with the requirement of the text but as we went on the floor next day... i was all awkward and bad..

As the lines started getting imprinted on the slab stone of my memory i started getting more confident and more good with my act.

A lesson i have learnt during my training days real work starts only after the actor is line perfect. he maybe preparing the character but the lack of confidence that forgetting of lines is unmatched.

बहूत दिनों बाद मैं वापस आया हूँ..

आज ये, कल वोह, परसों कुछ, तरसो कुछ और...

वहाँ पहुचने की हड़बड़ी में,

जहाँ का पता भी मेरे पास नहीं था...

कितनी दूर चला गया था मैं..

इसके नजदीक, उसके नजदीक, सबके नजदीक...

पर खुद से बहूत दूर....

उन को अपनी मंजिल समझ रहा था,

पर वो तो लंबे रास्ते के पडाव ही थे...

कितना वक्त लगा मुझे यह समझने में की,

मैं एक मामूली सा मुसाफिर हूँ...

मंजिल तो बस एक ख्याल है..

और चलना मेरा काम है...

साथी केवल एक हैं....

बाकि तो   सब मुसाफिर है बिल्कुल मेरी तरह,

चल रहे है अपनी अपनी मंजिल  की ओर..

किस के पास वक्त है अपनी मंजिल के अलावा कही और देखने भर का भी..

बात सही है मेरे पास भी वक्त कहा है...

आज मैं यहाँ हूँ कल वहाँ...

तो क्यूँ मैं उन्हें रोकने की कोशिश करता हूँ...

या वो मुझे रोकने की...

कोई बात नहीं अब मैं समझ गया हूँ....

मैं था  खुद से दूर, बहूत दूर...

पर अब मैं वापस आ गया हूँ और..

अब मंजिल नहीं बदलेगी....

मेरे पास बस खुद का साथ है और चलते रहना मेरा काम है...

बाकि सब बकवास है.....

What do I say in language that’s not my mother tongue. I have to because this language is ruling the world. My laptop doesn’t support my language my mother tongue Hindi. No I will not speak in the language that is my country’s official language. The reason being I’m not doing any official work. Infact, there is no official work for me.

Get a dream; Believe in it;  it will do the rest for you.

For once I feel the title is enough to say what I want to, but I love to talk so I will. So, here I am writing.  It is so important to confront ourselves on about who we are. Believing in ourselves that we can be anyone we want to, with what we have in our armor. Many a times we won’t even have the armor but to accept that we can fight our journey to a dignified life. When I was a kid, I would question everything. I firmly believed I was trash and I became trash. Then I had a dream, it would run in my mind day and night my heart would long for it but I had no courage to confront that dream, believe in it and achieve it as I believed myself to be unworthy.

 One thing about dream is that it is a stubborn seed and it will grow to become a beautiful tree even in a desert. It doesn’t mind if you don’t water or nurture it, the dream won’t mind. Even if you give up on it, it will not give up on you. A dream is the best thing that can happen to anyone. It becomes the guiding light in the journey of life.

Once it happens the believe seeps in. Yesterday, I happen to see an animation film Kung Fu Panda.  Where the fat Panda is chosen to be a Dragon warrior, to his disbelief and others. How can a fat panda be a dragon warrior who can’t even catch his breath when he is walking up the stairs.stairs? But the point was that he was chosen, he had passion for Kung Fu. With the passion and love for the art he learnt it with time and when he was  handed  the dragon scroll containing unlimited knowledge only meant for the warrior. He found it to be blank. On introspection, he realized there is no secret ingredient for greatness, you just have to believe. And when he believed, he became the invincible Dragon Warrior.

It’s basic you need to believe you are what you want to be.  As in any sport once the player gets a feeling that he is going to lose he loses. So, It is important to be firm in your believe.  In the believing business believing in yourselfyou is the first step. No matter what you lack you can do whatever you believe in. Just give in the time for the seed to take shape of the tree. I once couldn’t speak in front of  anyone even those I knew but  with the believe belief that I am not a tortoise but a lion made me realize  I can, and I did, which made me a certified dreamer. Now, I just believe I can and I do. Don’t give space for doubt. You may have million of friends but your enemy is only one and that is you because unless you let, no one has the access.

One thing I want to add I have seen people who are taking support from their parents. There one point agenda is how to be on their ownindependent and sometimes what you want to achieve will be hard to get, just work on that, if you have support utilize it. Don’t keep thinking how you can free your folks rather think how you can achieve what is in your mind . Keep working because if you focus on freeing yourself you will entangle yourself more.  I speak by experience till I wanted to be on my own I would have to face the embarrassment of taking support again and again. When I accepted the support and believed fine lets work. I was on my own soon. Free. 

I read somewhere that the mantra for life follow three P’s -   be prepared, be punctual, be polite.

If all this is to preachy then man just chuck it. Do just this:  don’t give up on your dream as for living there has to be the passion of a dream.  As without passion you are better dead than alive.

If you have a dream!!! Good. If you don’t have, find something. I assure there will be one waiting to be discovered. So, let your heart lead you because I am where my heart is nowhere else. Listen to the heart as it is never wrong. Never.
